PAUL A. MONK
AUBURN - Paul A. Monk, 81, of 74 Lake Auburn Ave. here died unexpectedly Thursday morning at his home. Born here Feb. 3, 1893, he was the son of Winslow and Etta Monk. For many years he operated Monk's Variety Store at Livermore Falls. he was a member of Post 1603 of the VFw, here, of the George Bunten Post 10 American Legion and was a past commander of the WWWI Veteran's 2684. He was also a 50 - year member and past high priest of Franklin Chapter 34 Royal Arch of Masons, a past master of Oriental Star Lodge 21 A.F. and A.M. and a life member of the lodge, a past patron and life member of Washburn Chapter 52 OES, past commander of the Commandery, a member of Kora Temple a past noble Grand of Odd Fellows, a member of Purity Fort 3, Order of Amaranth, a member of Auburn's Senior Citizens Club and Elm St. Universalist Church here. His first Wife, the former Dorothy Loring died in 1944. He later married the former Alice Buchanan who survives him. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Meredith Dalessandro of Livermore Falls; two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Plummer and Merrill Funeral Home, here. Intombment will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery with burial in the spring.
