Son of Isaiah & Mary Palmer Cook. He was born in Preston, Connecticutt on Dec. 24, 1787 and died in Red Hook, (Madalin), New York on Mar. 1, 1872.

He married Mary Halsey (1789 - 1862) and from this union there were 4 known children: Esther P Cooke Cole (1812 - 1904), Mary Palmer Cooke O'Neil (1814 - 1886), Giles C Cooke (1819 - 1890) and Jeremiah Halsey Cooke (1824 - 1872).

Palmer Cooke bought property in Madalin, New York in 1813, which had a mill, located on what is now known as Stonybrook Road. Palmer turned the mill into a woolen cloth factory according to an article included in the photos.
