AUGUSTA, Ga. Lola M. Rayder,96, wife of the late Raymond Rayder, entered into rest Friday, April 20, 2012. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Burns Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Keith Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Lola will be deeply missed by family and friends who loved her for her kind loving spirit and her infectious smile. Lola was born August 23, 1915 in Watson, AK to the late John and Lola Dickenson and is preceded in death by siblings; Crawford Heath Dickenson, Helen Collins, Ann Livingston and grandson Mark Taylor. She is survived by her children, Ben Rayder and Rayleen Taylor; nephew John Kent Livingston; son in law Donald Taylor; granddaughters, Donna McGuire and Anna Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Katie, Allison, Jack and Regan. Lola served her country as a US Army nurse in WW II. She is a former POW held by the Germans in April 1945 before her medical unit was liberated by American Soldiers. She was awarded the Bronze Star for her bravery and sacrifice in WWII. Lola continued to serve as a VA nurse for 30 years and retired from the VA hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Lola was a member of the Military Order of the World Wars and the American Legion. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 until the hour of the service at the church.
