JOHN OAKLEY DIES AT HOME NEAR TOLEDO

Toledo, Ill., Feb. 28. -- John Oakley, a resident of Cumberland county for over 70 years died Wednesday night at the home of a son, Owen Oakley, three miles west of Toledo. He had been ill for some time.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon from the United Brethren Church in Toledo, Rev. Loren Mill officiating. Burial will follow in Berry cemetery.
Mr. Oakley was born Jul 18, 1850 in Kentucky, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Pleasant Oakley. He came to Cumberland county in 1864 and had lived in this community since.
In 1872 he married Miss Mathilda Hornbeck at Rockville, Ind. She passed away several years ago.
Surviving are the following children, Warren Oakley of Woodbury, Ross Oakley of Deland, Mrs. Emma Furry of Kansas, William Oakley, Owen Oakley, Bloomfield Oakley and Jess Oakley all of this community. He is also survivd by a brother, Oliver Oakley, of near Toledo.
Mr. Oakley farmed near Toledo for many years. He retired a short time after the death of his wife, and had been making his home with his children since.
