John was the son of Robert Robb & Catherine Koonce of Mercer County. He was married to Sarah Shaffer, then later he re-married to Mayme Tingley Hughes. John was widowed at the time of his death at Warren State Hospital in Conewango township, Warren County of arteriosclerosis. His death certificate lists his race as: mixed?
"Former Black Ash Man Passed Away Yesterday - John Robb, aged 72, died at 1:10 am yesterday at the Warren State hospital. He had been seriously ill since last April. The deceased was born in Corry, December 14, 1968 (sic) [1869], a son of Robert and Catherine Robb. He was a successful farmer in Troy and Randolph townships for many years and in 1918 went to Vandergrift, where he worked in the mills for a number of years. Mr Robb was twice married, his first wife passing away in 1920 and the second in 1935. He leaves the following children: Elias and Garwood Robb of Vandergrift, Robert and Mrs Clyde Armbarger of RD Guys Mills. There are 18 grandchildren, and one-great grandchild and a brother, Edward Robb of Fauncetown. A sister, Mrs Hugh Armstrong, died several years ago.
