In the book, Pioneer Women of the Western Reserve, Townsend, Huron County section, there is a couple of paragraphs on Louise. Louise came to Ohio with her parents from Poultney, Vermont, in 1835, by way of the Erie canal to Buffalo; from thence to Huron by steamer. They lived in Norwalk for a few months before moving to a farm in Townsend, a few miles from town. In spring 1836, Louise was hired to teach their district school at a dollar a week, with the privilege of boarding around.
