"Ness Funeral Rites Monday" Ernest T. Ness 77, passed away in Kelispell, Thursday evening. Mr. Ness was born May 24, 1887, at Lake Preston, S.D. He spent his youth in South Dakota and as a young man moved to Wauchope, Sask., Canada area, where he engaged in farming for a time and then moved to Baker, MT, where he homesteaded and engaged in farming, and also in law enforcement work in the Fallon County area.
In 1916 he moved to Hot Springs and came to the Flathead in 1917, where he had made his home since. After coming to Kalispell he engaged in a repair shop business.
Mr. Ness was a member of Lake Lodge 50, 100F, and had been active in Past Noble Grand of Lodge 50, and was an active member of the Rebekahs. On November 2, 1907 he married Nellie I. Beckman at Wauchope, Sask., Canada. Proceeded in death by his wife Nellie on August 8, 1961, and is now survived by 7 children: Mrs .Ernest Freebury and Gerald Ness, both of Kalispell; Mrs. Roger Michels of Libby; Lindy of Miles City; Clarence, Ervin and Fred Ness, all of California; 17 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren, and one brother, Oscar Ness of Rapid City, S.D. Funeral services of Mr. Ness have been set for Monday at 2 p.m. from the Waggeren & Campbell chapel, with Charlie Krub officiating and ritualistic services by Lake Lodge 50. Interment will follow in the family section of the Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
