MALLARD - Lifelong area resident John J. Wagner of Mallard died Monday, Jan. 25, 1982, at Palo Alto County Hospital. He was 89.
Services for Mr. Wagner were held Thursday, Jan. 28, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mallard. The Rev. G. R. Wingert officiated.
Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The Schellhammer Funeral Home in Mallard was in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Elmer Ernst, Orlo Oskvig, Harold Draman, Ralph Schnieders, Bill Weinzetl and Vic Graff.
John Wagner was born Nov. 17, 1896, in rural Whittemore, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Wagner. He was reared and educated in Mallard.
On Feb. 22, 1916, John Wagner and Marie Miller were married at West Bend. The couple farmed in the Mallard area until 1947 when they moved into Mallard. Mr. Wagner then sold corn and insurance. His wife, Marie, preceded him in death in 1955.
Mr. Wagner was married to Rachel Schuller and the couple made their home in Mallard. She preceded her husband in death in 1977.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Mary Miller of Algona, Mrs. Margaret Heiderscheit of Algona and Mrs. Theresa Deiter of Wasco, Calif.; and a brother, Charles Wagner of Algona.
