Alsteen, Laverne

Laverne Alsteen, 85, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday morning, March 13, 2016, at a local care facility. Born on Aug. 21, 1930, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Emil and Evelyn (Drossart) Deprey. Laverne married Roland Alsteen on July 8, 1950, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Bay Settlement and he preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 2013. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic; working on the farm shortly after marriage, Green Bay Canning, serving at Bay Towel for well over ten years, and as a cleaning lady at a local bank. After her retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling all over on various bus tours. In their later years, Laverne was a dedicated caretaker of her beloved, Roland. Laverne enjoyed her time at the cottage at Half Moon Lake, embroidery, and completing her word search puzzles.

Laverne is survived by two children and their spouses, Diane (Francis) Elmer of Green Bay and Ron (Cheryl) Alsteen of Ashwaubenon; six grandchildren, Jonathan (Sarah), Jason (Tia), Kristie (Steve), Susan, Laura, and Tracy; eleven great-grandchildren, Jonah, Lincoln, Evelyn, Kennedy, Cody, Imoen, Aiden, Emilly, Sydney, Ryleigh and Bentley; beloved cat, Misty; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Evelyn; husband of 63 years, Roland; sister, Audrey (Harold) Gilson; brother, Larry Deprey; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Wed. from 10 am until the time of the funeral in church. Funeral Mass, 12 Noon Wed. at Saints Peter and Paul Church with Rev.
