Civil War Veteran in the War of the Rebellion. Son of Edwin Davis and Mary Elizabeth Johns. 1/2 brother of Franklin Benjamin Whatley, first born of Mary Elizabeth Johns. Brother of PVT. Frederick Davis, Confederate States of American. Margaret Ann Davis and Mary Elizabeth Johns.
John Blount Davis; Present Post Office address: Whatley, AL. was born on Dec 3rd 1835 at Grove Hill Beat, in the County of Clarke in the State of Alabama; first entered the service as Private, on March 25th 1861 at Suggsville, Ala in the Co. D 2nd Ala and continued until March 31st 1862, Discharged.
Re-enlisted as Private,on June 16th 1864 at Dalton, GA in the 10th Missouri Bat. and continued until May 1865. Was Captured.
