Howard White was a veteran of World War I. He married Grace Lane in 1924. They met when he was a student at the University of Missouri. They opened a restaurant in Bakersfield, where Grace was the cook. They had two daughters, Margaret and Venia Lou, before divorcing in 1930. Howard also married Cleo Brown and had one more daughter, Joyce, born in 1928. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife Margie Perkins White.
