Mattie Scott, 84, of Route 1, Buffalo, daughter of the late Will Henry Warren and Mary Allen Warren, died at 2:50 p.m., Friday, May 3, 1985 at her home. She was a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. She united in marriage to Emmett Scott Sr. February 4, 1920. To this union seven daughters and two sons were born: James Ray Scott preceded his mother in death Sept. 3, 1967 and Emmett Brooks Scott Jr. preceded his mother in death Oct. 2, 1942. Surviving are: Etha Mae Skaggs of Hodgenville; Dorothy Jean Sutter of Bloomington, Illinois; Mary Caulk of Campbellsville, Star Route; Mattie Long of Route 1, Buffalo; Essie Allen of Fisherville; Juanita Pike and Betty Skaggs both of Louisville. Besides her husband, Emmett Scott Sr. of Route 1, Buffalo and daughters, she is survived by 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister: Ida Scott of Bartonville, Illinois; Bee Warren of Campbellsville, Star Route; Joe Warren and Lenzie Warren, both !
of Peoria, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 6, at the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church in Taylor County by Dr. Rual T. Perkins and the Rev. Elbert Hadley. Burial was in Poplar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ronald Sutter, Bobby Caulk, Glen Caulk, Greg Pike, Gary Pike, and Thomas Clark.
