ISAAC W. ELSEY TAKEN BY DEATH

Isaac W. Elsey, age 81 years, a farmer, of Center Township, died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, after an illness of one week.

Mr. Elsey was born on April 15, 1871 in Martin County, the son of Edward M. and Angeline (Sanders) Elsey. His first wife Loretta (Mattingly) Elsey, passed away in 1913. Two sons of this marriage survive. They are: Flavion A. Elsey, of Indianapolis, and Roy A. Elsey, of Columbus, Ind. Two children are deceased.

In addition to the sons, he is survived by his second wife, Rebecca (Hand) Elsey, and five stepchildren. They are: Rosie Hand, Esther Hand, William Hand and Ralph Hand, all of Indianapolis, and Christopher Hand, of Arizona.

Other survivors are sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one brother, James T. Elsey of Rural Route 3, Loogootee, and two sisters, Mrs. Jane Phillips, of Rural Route 3, Loogootee, and Mrs. Iva Russell, of Elnora.

Mr. Elsey was a member of Mt. Calvary Methodist Church.

Funeral services were conducted at the Miller Funeral Home 1:00 pm Tuesday with the Rev. Hubert Crane conducting the funeral rites. Interment was made in the Wood Cemetery.
