Clarence F. Ade, 84, died at 7:20 AM Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, in Heritage Healthcare, where he had resided since July, following many years of failing health. Born Aug. 19, 1913, near Montmorenci, he had resided in the West Lafayette area most of his life, and was educated at Montmorenci schools. He married Mildred L. Reed on Nov. 28, 1946, at Oxford; she survives.

Mr. Ade farmed most of his life in Tippecanoe and Benton counties, retiring in 1972. After that, he worked at Purdue University in the physical plant for five years, and was a ticket-taker for Purdue football and basketball games. He also was a bus driver for Battle Ground and Klondike schools and drove teams to athletic events. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church at Otterbein, Midwest Tool Collectors Association, and Early American Industries Association. An avid collector and preserver of antique hand tools, he often displayed tools at local events.

Surviving wth his wife are a daughter, Mary Anne (Mrs. Dale) Workman of West Lafayette; a son, David D. Ade of Lafayette; three sisters, Leona (Mrs. Claude) Pritchard, Ruth (Mrs. Curtis) Sackett, both of Lafayette, and Helen (Mrs. James) Morgan of Otterbein; daughter-in-law, Stacy Ade; and six granddaughters. Preceded in death by a son, Roger Ade; four brothers; his twn sister and two sisters who died in infancy.
