Letitia was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Patton) Preston. She married her first cousin Col. Robert Breckenridge in July 1758. Note, Robert's mother, Jane Preston, and Letitia's father, John Preston, were siblings. Letitia was Robert's second wife. Robert had first married Mary Poage, daughter of Robert Poage and Elizabeth Preston, and they had two sons, Alexander and Robert.

Letitia and Robert had five known children:
1. William Breckinridge , born c. 1759
2. John Breckinridge, born 1760
3. James Breckinridge, born 1763
4. Elizabeth Breckinridge, born c. 1766
5. Preston Breckinridge, born c. 1770
Note, James Breckinridge was said to be the first born in Botetourt County, where the family had moved by then.

During the American Revolution, Letitia Breckinridge provided supplies for the Patriots and thus earned the designation DAR Ancestor Number A202892. Two of her sons, James and John, (DAR Ancestor Numbers A013940 and A013942) were soldiers in the American Revolution, as were her two stepsons,
1. Alexander Breckenridge

General Robert Breckenridge who would serve as Speaker of the Kentucky State House of Representatives, 1792.
