In 1920 he formed the law firm of Estabrook, Finn & McKee with Roland H. McKee and Samuel L. Finn. Their principal business was commercial matters, including collections, and they became increasing prominent. By 1940 the firm, with the addition of Harry Lawner, became known as the firm with the largest alumni association among Dayton lawyers and would ultimately merge into a major Columbus firm to become the local branch of Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur.
In 1931 Estabrook was named by the Ohio attorney general as special local counsel to handle the liquidation of the Union Trust Company, the largest bank in Dayton before the crash. This high profile case, along with Roland McKee’s involvement in Frederick Patterson’s divorce, transformed the firm into a leading corporate firm and its reputation was established.
Estabrook became director and general counsel for the First National Bank and for State Fidelity Federal Savings & Loan.
