Notice of Death from the Tuesday, July 28, 1903 Winston-Salem Journal:

"THE DEATH ANGEL---The home of J.L. Carmichael was invaded early Sunday morning by the Death Angel and the soul of his affectionate wife was called to her heavenly home after a brief illness (of) meningitis. The deceased was 30 years of age and leaves a husband and four children. The funeral was conducted yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock by the Rev. Barber, pastor of Love Church. The remains were laid to rest in the churchyard."

Wife of John Lewis Carmichael Jr., who she married on Jan. 15, 1886 in Forsyth Co. NC. She was 18 and he was 24 at the time. Ludie died the same year that her daughter, Oda, was born, possibly as a result of her birth.
