Millard pleaded guilty to rape in 1938 and was given a 20-year sentence. He served at the Anamosa Reformatory from 07 Dec 1938 until his parole on 02 Feb 1945.
He married Anne Lavere Hatter around 1949; he divorced her in 1952.
He married Mabel Gruber on 24 Oct 1953 at Marion; she filed for divorce in 1964.
He married Ardis Streeter on 30 Dec 1965 in Galena, Illinois.
In 1968 he was charged with rape and incest in Cedar Rapids but charges appear to have been dropped.

Millard S. Ash, 81, of 3630 E Ave. NW, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, in Heritage Acres Care Center following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The Rev. John Hegarty of the Church of Covington will officiate. Graveside services and interment: 1 p.m. Monday, Edgewood, Iowa, cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, and after 9 a.m. Monday at the chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Ardis; a son, Raymond of Marion; a daughter, Rose Marie LeClere of Marion; two stepsons, Le Roy Withem and Richard Bennett, both of Cedar Rapids; two stepdaughters, Vikki Blomme of Cedar Rapids and Barbara Warren of Marion.
Also surviving are many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Millard was born Sept. 25, 1917, in Edgewood, Iowa, to Robert and Grace Hook Ash.
He married Ardis Streeter(1920-2005) on Dec. 30, 1965, in Galena, Ill.
He worked in production at Iowa Steel and Iron Works for 34 years, retiring in 1982.
