Private services for Samuel R. Baird, 67, Coshocton Route 4, who died Tuesday evening in his home following a sudden illness, will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Plainfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rollin A. Conway and the Rev. Donald R. Dolick officiating.
Burial will be in the Plainfield Cemtery. Calling hours will be today 7-9 p.m. at the Free Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until private services Friday at the church. The family suggests contributions be made to the Coshocton County Heart Fund.
Baird was born in Linton Township to Samuel T. and Anna Peiter Baird on Oct. 11, 1907. He married Virginia Kennedy on Jan. 13, 1935. She survives.
Baird had attended Bliss Business College. He also owned and operated his own farm in Linton Township. Baird was also a life-long member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church; a member of the Plainfield Board of Education for 14 years, serving as president for six years. Baird was also leader of the Plainfield Farmers and Farmerettes.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Gayle) Hackenbracht, Coshocton Route 1, two brothers, James Baird, West Lafayette Route 1; John Baird, Newcomerstown Route 3; two sisters, Mrs. Harry (Erville) Medley, Coshocton Route 5; Mrs. Preston (Mary) Hayes, 554 E. Railroad St., Newcomerstown; and one granddaughter.
Three children are deceased.
