Martha Ellen Farr, was born December 25, 1847, and departed this life, August 3, 1926, aged 79 years, seven months and six days, at her home.
She was the daughter of Thompson and Louisa Farr. She was born and lived most of her life in Grant County, moving to Jefferson County in 1907.
She was married to J. J. Cartwright at the close of the war, who preceded her in death 19 years ago.
December 3, 1909, she was married to John C. Maddox, who departed this life January 5, 1925.
She leaves to mourn, two nephews and three nieces, and a number of friends.
She was united with the Methodist Church at Paynesville about 20 years ago, where she remained loyal to her faith. She was also a great friend and ever welcome attendant at the Christian Church, where she will be missed.
