Helen Pearl Eskew Swenson, 92, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 18th, 2012. She was born on a Dairy Farm in Austin, Texas on May 25, 1919. She was the daughter of James Walter and Eula Etta Eskew. She was one of six children.

She is survived by children, Debi Hamilton, Tommy Swenson, Jr. and wife, Georgia; sister, Eula Horton; grandchildren, Jade Greenough, Kira Greenough, Ryan Swenson and wife, Tanya, Tahlia Morgan and husband, Dallas, Clayton Swenson, and Hope Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Beau and Annabella Swenson; many nieces and nephews; and pets, Peanut, Snickers, Chloe and Kobe.

Helen is preceded by her husband, Thomas Swenson; parents, James Walter and Eula Etta Eskew; siblings, Alice Louise Eskew, Eunice Klingemann, Woodrow Eskew and Walter Eskew, Jr.

Helen graduated from Austin High School in 1937. She spent her early adulthood helping take care of her parents, her Aunt Nannie and eldest sister Alice (Dootsie). She met the love of her life, Tommy, at the local roller skating rink, and they wed on November 8, 1955. They were married for 56 years. They had two beautiful children, Debi and Tommy, Jr.

Helen worked for the IRS for 28 years. Afterwards she spent her time helping her husband run their business, Oak Hill Service Company. She shared a love of traveling and collecting figurines with her daughter Debi.

Helen loved her family. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, and an exceptional grandmother. We are all very blessed to have had the opportunity to share our lives with this gentle and caring woman. You will always be loved and never forgotten.

Proverbs 31:10-31

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Oak Hill, 6907 Convict Hill Road. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.

Donations in Helen's name can be made to First Baptist Church of Oak Hill or Austin Pets Alive.
