Malissa Ellen "Ella" Bonnell Harkins Davis was born in Jay County, Indiana, the daughter of John M. Bonnell (a civil war veteran) & Susan J. Collins. Ella taught school as a young woman.
She married James S. Harkins on October 7, 1880 in Jay County, Indiana. In 1887 James, Ella, and 3 eldest children left Jay Co., Indiana in covered wagon, settling in Grand Traverse County, Michigan near Traverse City in an area known as Hoosier Valley. Ella's parents and siblings also relocated to Michigan from Indiana, arriving earlier in 1880.
Husband, James Harkins passed away in 1906.
Ella married Charles L Davis on September 20, 1908 in Grand Traverse County, Michigan. They were divorced on May 13, 1915.
