Daughter of late Horace and Birdie McMillen, she was a graduate of Memphis State University and past national president of Theta Tau Epsilon National Sorority. She was a past president of a Chapter of ABWA and had been listed in the Women’s Who’s Who records. She was a member of St. Lukes Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anne Wessen.
