"Mr. Amos Diller, son of E. C. and Cora Mason Diller, died at his home on West Main street on Sunday afternoon at about 3:30 o'clock. He was born in New Holland, October 3rd, 1872, and was aged 49 years, 11 months and 21 days. In his early youth he took a business college course in Philadelphia, after which he accepted a position as bookkeeper in a larger grocery and from there went to New York and accepted a position of a similar character and continued there for about three years. On October 1, 1892, he returned to New Holland, and organized the Diller Hardware Company and engaged in the hardware business until sickness compelled him to withdraw from all business affairs. He was in the hardware business in this town for about 25 years, during which time he made a host of friends who found in him an honest and obliging business man. About three years ago he was taken ill and continued to grow worse until as stated above he peacefully fell asleep on Sunday afternoon. He was a faithful and consistent member of Trinity Lutheran church, a member of F. and A.M., No. 43, of Lancaster, the New Holland Fire Company, and was always foremost in all that tended to advance the interests of his native town. About six years ago he was married to Miss Anna Sample of Columbia, and at once went to housekeeping in the new and beautiful home which he had erected. He is survived by his wife, his father, E.C. Diller and step-mother, also by his sister Alta, and a brother Charles M., besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends who deeply sympathize with the family in their bereavement. His funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from his late home conducted by his pastor, Rev, S. M. Mountz. The floral tributes were many and most beautiful. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery."
