SHEARJASHUB SPOONER b. Aug.14, 1735 d. April 25, 1785. Sheaijashub was a soldier in the war of the Revolution. His name is found on several muster rolls. He was with Stark at Bennington. In common with many other soldiers and citizens of the Revolution, he was a sufferer from the financial embarassments of the Government so much so that through an unlucky venture in Continental paper currency he was forced to sacrifice his patrimony to pay his debts. In 1779, he took up his residence at Heath and in 1785 leaving his eldest son in charge of his family and farm and taking with him his second son Paul he went to Hudson, NY to seek employment at his trade that of house joiner. Here he died shortly afterward April 25, 1785 of small pox.
