Elizabeth L. Foote, librarian, to be buried Wednesday
Death comes in hospital, where she had been patient for week

Rites for Miss Elizabeth Louisa Foote, 70, of 516 Greenwood pl., who died Monday in University Hospital, where she had been a patient for a week, will be conducted in the rooms of Garfield & Chapman, funeral directors, at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Wilson G. Cole, pastor of University Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
Ailing for some time, Miss Foote was in the hospital for a month last summer. Her health improved for a time and she returned to her home, but her condition became worse last week and she was returned to the hospital.
A daughter of the late Rev. Dr. John b. Foote and Louisa Young Foote. Her father was a well-known minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church. she was a descendant of Nathaniel Foote, who came from England in 1633 and settled in Wethersfield, Con.
Miss Foote was born in Rome, Oneida County, Aug 23, 1866. At that time her father was presiding elder of the Rome district of the Methodist Church. Miss Foote received her early education at Cazenovia Seminary, Wellesley College, and she graduated from Syracuse University in 1888 with the degree of bachelor of arts.
She received a master of arts degree from the university in 1924, following a two-years' post-graduate course in religious education. Miss Foote was given the degree of bachelor library science by the State Library School in Albany in 1892. She was a teacher in Canandaigua High School during 1888 and 1889 and for the next two years she was mathematics examiner in the office of the state board of regents.
Miss Foote was a writer of many newspaper and magazine articles and had two books published. One was titled "The Librarian of the Sunday School: and the other "Strengthening the Sunday School Library." She was a member of the American Library Association, New York State Library Association, the Poetry Society of America, Syracuse Alumnae club and the Central New York Alumnae chapter of Alpha Phi.
Surviving are a niece, Miss Jean Eller and a nephew, William Foote Eller. She was the sister of the late Mrs. Martha Foote Crow, W.Y. Foote and Mrs. Mabel Foote Eller.

After two years's study at Wellesley College, received A.B. at Syracuse Univ. and B.L.S. at N. Y. State Library School. Wrote two books in connection with library work: "The Librarian of the Sunday School," and "Strengthening the Sunday School Library."
After a year spent in teaching in Canandaigua, N. Y., became examiner in mathematics, N. Y State Regents' Office, then served on staff of N. Y. State Library for three years, also aiding in organization of local libraries. Since 1897 has been with N. Y. Pub. Library, chiefly engaged as instructor of training class. belongs to Women's University Club.
