EPWORTH, Iowa - Ambrose A. Clemen, 63, of Hendersonville, Tenn., formerly of Epworth, died March 4, 2007, at the Hendersonville Medical Center, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Podhajsky officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home, Holy Cross, where there will be a parish scripture service at 3 p.m. and a Catholic Order of Foresters rosary at 4 p.m.

He was born on Jan. 8, 1944, in Holy Cross, son of Leonard J. and Frances M. (Hayes) Clemen.

He attended school in Holy Cross, graduating in 1963.

Ambrose married Mary Cook on April 24, 1965, in North Buena Vista, They later divorced in 2000.

He joined the Army in 1963 for six months and then was placed in the Reserves until 1970.

Ambrose worked at John Deere Dubuque Works and farmed in Epworth until his move to Tennessee in March of 1989, where he did carpentry, landscaping and worked in maintenance for the Cracker Barrel Co. until his retirement in 2004.

He was a 50 year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Surviving are a son, Dan (Bev) Clemen, of Dyersville; two daughters, Kathy (Frank) LeGrand, of Suffolk, Va., and Lori (Tim) Benn, of Delhi; the mother of his children, Mary Clemen, of Hendersonville; nine grandchildren, Chris, Nathan, Daniel and Amanda LeGrand, Tyler, Allison and Ryan Clemen, Cody Burger and Cole Benn; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth LeGrand; three sisters, Kathleen (Albert) Trenkamp, of Dyersville, Virginia (Bill) Juran, of Holy Cross, and Madonna (John) Weimerskirch, of Dubuque; and four brothers, Eddie (Rosie) Clemen, of New Vienna, Leon (LaVonne) Clemen and Roger (Janey) Clemen, both of Holy Cross, and Cletus (Grace) Clemen, of East Dubuque, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Brittany Clemen; and a brother-in-law, Lee Wedewer.
