Sister M. Corita was born March 1, 1919, in Merrill, Wis., to Arthur Lagerbloom and Elizabeth Guyett Lagerbloom.
She entered the convent on Sept. 8, 1935, in Peoria. During her 76 years in religious life, Sister Corita served in Surgical Nursing at St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, nursing instructor at Saint Francis School of Nursing, nursing supervisor at St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac and later at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was Director of Novices in Peoria. Later she was instructor of Psychiatric Nursing for two years at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Sister Corita served in mission work in Ecuador. She helped bring medical care to the Indians in the mountain areas and later to the impoverished at the coastal area. She established a clinic in the Ambato Diocese especially for the Indian people and in Guayaquil, a health center where hundreds of patients were treated every day.
Her later years were spent in pastoral care at Saint Francis Medical Center until she retired in 1999 to the Motherhouse Infirmary.
Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery at the Motherhouse in East Peoria.
