Army Spc. James Peter Lambert was born in Dunedin, Florida in 1981 to Fred and Rosemary Lambert. At St. Amant High School in Ascension Parish, Louisiana he enjoyed competitive swimming and acting in the school plays. He enlisted in the Army on June 12, 2001, and was assigned to Fort Drum, New York. As of September 06, 2002, he was an Avenger Crewmember. Awarded the Purple Heart in early 2004 when shrapnel from an explosive devise hit him in the neck. Killed while serving in Fallujah, Iraq with the Army, 3rd Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery, 10th Mountain Division on May 25, 2004. An improvised explosive device struck his patrol vehicle. Also killed in this attack was Pfc. Richard Homero Rosas. Posthumously awarded a second Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. The medals were given to his parents and his widow, Rachel, during the funeral service.
