R.C. DIMMITT Dies In West
R.C. Dimmitt, native of Wapello County and a resident of this vicinity for 55 years, died Saturday at 5:15 p.m. at his home in Huntington Park, Calif. He was 89 years old.
Mr. Dimmitt engaged in farming here and owned a farm north of the city along highway 63 at the time of his death. He retired in 1907 from active farming and went to California. He returned almost annually, however. He had been ill several months.
He is survived by his widow, Lydia. They had been married about 68 years. Other survivors are five sons and three daughters, all living in California but one son, in Sioux City; two brothers, Fred and John Dimmitt of Ottumwa, and two sisters, Mrs. Filana Giltner of Dahlonega and Mrs. Mary Long of Ottumwa.
Funeral is to be held Tuesday with burial in Whittier, Calif.
