MADISON – Rita A. Page, age 71, died on April 20, 1994, after a brief illness at Madison Meriter Hospital. Rita was born on July 7, 1922, in Cross Plains, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arnold and Gertrude (Wahl) Baer. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier School in Cross Plains and a graduate of Edgewood High School. She worked for the Federal Government at Forest Products Laboratory in Madison for 36 years. She was an active member of St. Raphael Cathedral as president of the Altar Society and a choir member. She was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cross Plains. She married retired Madison Fire Chief Edward J. Page Sr. on October 14, 1963. Survivors include two sisters, Evelyn Baer and Mrs. Hildegarde Kelter, both of Cross Plains; two step-children, Robert (Eileen) Page of Plano, Texas, and Edward J. (Barbara) Page Jr. of Madison. Rita was also a very loving grandmother to six grandchildren, Robert Jr. of New York, Brian of New York, Michael of New York, Barry of Frisco, Texas, Julie (Mark) Nickel, and Garrett (Rebecca) Page. She was also a very loving great-grandmother to her five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; three brothers, Father Richard G. Baer, Albert Baer, and John Baer; and a sister, Lorena Baer. Funeral services will be held at St. Raphael Cathedral, 222 West Main Street, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 1994. The Reverend Monsignor Raymond E. Klass will officiate. Graveside services will be held in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cross Plains at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 1994. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 1994, at the church until the service time.
