"Rev. Henry Preble, son of Motherwill and Susannah (Flint) Preble, was born at Norridgewock, ME, Jan. 9, 1815. He studied in the school of his native place and was converted in 1825.

Licensed in 1841, he was ordained the next year at Phillips, and for many years was an evangelist in the Farmington Q.M. (Quarterly Meeting). In pastorates and all, twenty years were spent in that body. For six years he labored in the Anson, Q.M., and for three years in the Bowdoin. The last ten years of his ministry has been in Aroostook. A church has been organized at Blaine of sixty members, where he has been blessed in a pastorate of eight years. At Mt. Vernon he also organized a church of sixty-five members.

During his ministry of forty-six years, he has traveled over eight thousand miles with his own team, not having received as much as four cents a mile for his services. But over forty churches have been served and hundreds have been converted and baptized. He has been a zealous advocate of moral reforms and genuine in his loyalty to his denomination.

Feeble in body, yet grateful that Christ has used him for his glory, he cheerfully awaits the call of his Master to depart."
