Frank Marion Davis, 83, Corning, Iowa, was born February 14, 1911, at the Davis Farm west of Corning to Joseph Simpson and Estelle Mae Olive Davis. He died January 17, 1995, at Mercy Hospital in Corning. He grew to manhood on the farm and had a sincere love of farming all of his life. He graduated from Corning High School and began farming with his father. On May 19,1932, he was married to Doris Lucille Harlow at the Methodist parsonage in Plattsmouth,Nebraska. In 1992 they were privileged to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They watched the country move from the horse and buggy days to the space age; from gas lanterns to the wonders of electronics; and they kept abreast of the ever changing world. They had visited every state except Alaska. Mr. Davis was deeply involved with soil conservation progams, serving as chairman of the Adams County Conservation District, Walters Creek Watershed, National Resource Commission and Economic Development Plan. He received many outstanding achievement and merit awards for his contributions to soil conservation from local, county, district and state, including a Goodyear Certificate of Merit, the Wallace's Farmer Award, Omaha World Herald Merit Award,Regional Award as Soil Conservation District Commissioner and Corning Rotary recognition. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, a past member of the Adams County Beef Producers and the Wildlife Conservation Club. His contributions helped greatly in the planning and establishment of Lake Icaria and other area projects such as Prescott and Corning flood prevention and the Adams County Industrial Park development.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Core. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Dean (Dianne) Davis of Corning and Robert (Sue) Davis of Cozad, Nebraska and four grandchildren . Services were held January 20,1995, at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Rummer, Corning and Rev. Jeanne Groom, Prescott, officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Corning. Casket bearers were Ron Brown, Joe Victor, Wayne Victor, Phil Gearheart and Brian Peterson. Coen-Beaty Funeral Home of Corning was in charge of arrangements.
