Madeline Louise or as she was better known - Maddie - was truly one of the sweetest dogs to ever grace this planet. Her heritage was mixed and it was felt that she was mostly Schnauzer and Poodle. She was at once even tempered, sweet, loving and easy going. One of her most endearing qualities was a very sweet little throaty bark that sounded as though she were saying, “Woo, woo, woo!” Maddie walked into my sister’s life one fall day in 1986 somehow managing to enter a busy hospital building, down several corridors and into an employee lounge without being caught. She then walked directly up to my sister sat down and put her head in her lap. The little stray had found her person and she was home. From that day on she shared her sweetness with us and we knew we were blessed because of her. Maddie died of cancer in March 1999. Since we could only guess (with the help of her vet) at her actual age it is believed that she was approximately 13 years old.
