Hugh McCammon married his high school sweetheart Martha Taylor. He lived in Monroe Co, TN for 20 years. In 1856 he moved to Gentry Co, MO and in 1863 he located on a farm near Black Hawk, CO. He was a farmer, a freighter from Denver to Black Hawk and a prospector. Hugh was one of the discoverers of the Caribou Mine in 1869 along with relative John H. Pickel. He was also among the group that platted Caribou. In 1874 he and Sam Mishler and William J. Martin were among the original incorporators and directors of First National Bank of Central City. He was elected to the Territorial Council of Colo for Gilpin Co in 1874. Everett N. Pickel was his executor but died just 20 days after Hugh. Blanche McCammon (m Sam Thomas, had daughter Alice Thomas b 1899? m John Rosnic of Denver. They had 2 children - Dorothy b 1930 and John b 1935) 2. Anna McCammon (m Horace Griffin, Ch: Gilbert b 1900 & Robert b 1905). 3. Olive McCammon 7 Jan 1881-27 Apr 1901. 4. Hugh B. McCammon (m Nettie Chappell.
