MRS. EDITH F. VARNER
Nortonville–Mrs. Edith F. Varner, 84, Nortonville, died Saturday at a St. Joseph, Mo., nursing home where she had been a patient since Thursday.
She was born Oct. 26, 1898, at Nortonville, the daughter of William G. and Sarah Hudson Moxley.
Mrs. Varner was a member of the United Methodist Church and a former member of Mount Zion Chapter No. 284 of the Order of Eastern Star and Rogers-Varner Post No. 242 of the American Legion Auxiliary, all at Nortonville.
She married Ronald E. Varner Jan. 23, 1919, at Atchison. He died June 10, 1982. A son, William Varner, was killed in action Aug. 11, 1943, in Sicily during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Debbie Duguid, St. Joseph, Mo.; twin sisters, Elizabeth Moxley, Reno, Nev., and Mrs. Katherine Cook, Houston, Texas; a brother, Donald Moxley, Nortonville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at O'Trimble Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Nortonville Cemetery. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
