Hannah was a daughter of Jonas Westlund and Helena Sacuson, who were among some of the earliest pioneers of Bishop Hill, Henry County, Illinois. This is almost surely where she was born. She and Jonas Backstrum Alstrum were married at Bishop Hill 29 Oct 1868.
