Mrs. Bettie F. Downer
Dies At Hospital Today

     Mrs. Bettie F. Downer, widow of the late Robert J. Downer, died at noon today at Jennie Stuart Memorial Hospital.
     Mrs. Downer was an active member of the Baptist Church, and had her membership at the First Baptist Church since 1920.
     The survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Edwards, city; a brother, Newton Field of Miami, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
     Funeral arrangements had not been made.

Downer Rites Will
Be Conducted Tomorrow

     Funeral services for Mrs. Bettie F. Downer will be held at the Keightley Funeral Home tomorrow morning at 10:30 with burial at Riverside. Mrs. Downer died yesterday at noon at the Jennie Stuart Memorial Hospital.
     Mrs. Downer was the widow of the late Robert J. Downer who passed away in November of 1941. She was born in Owensboro, October 22, 1874, the daughter of Mattie H. and Benjamin T. Field. She married Mr. Downer in 1907 and lived in Fairview until 1920 when she moved to this city, where she resided until the time of her death.
     She was a graduate of Bethel Woman's College and a life long and active member of Baptist Church. During here entire life, she took an active part in the United Daughters of the Confederacy chapters here and in Owensboro.
     She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles Edwards of the city; a brother, Newton Fields of Miami; and several nieces and nephews in Owensboro and in Florida.
     Pallbearers will be Downer Buckley, Phil Chappell, Edward Moseley and Josh H. Boyd of the city and B. T. Field and Mount Field of Owensboro.
