Excerpt -- Mrs. Marilla A. Sisler was born in Preston county, Virginia, on the 14th day of July, 1841, and died March 27th, 1917, aged 75 years, 8 months and 13 days. She was married to Samuel B. Sisler in May 1859. There were born to this union 11 children, seven of whom are living to mourn their loss. One sister and three brothers also survive her. She was converted a number of years ago and became a member of the U. B. church, of which she was a faithful member when she died. She loved her church and its services. She said in the presence of her pastor "I would rather go to church than to sit down to the best meal that could be provided." She was a faithful companion and a loving, tender mother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She sleeps sweetly the sleep that knows no waking. The funeral was held Tuesday, March 29, from the U.B. church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. D. Cunningham, and the interment was made in the Kingwood cemetery.
