James S. "Sam" Haywood, Jr., 70, of Warsaw, passed away June 19 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ellen L. Haywood, and a sister Annie Mae Burton.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Lee Haywood. and children, Sue N. Wright and husband Art, Linda K. Mitchell and husband Scott, Curtis L. Nash and wife Debi, Jimmy Haywood, Libby Sydnor and husband Dougie, and Debbie Bryant and husband David; a sister, Frances H. Burton; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was spending time with his great grandchildren Megan, Rilee and Madison, working in his yard.
Funeral services were June 22 at Beulah Baptist Church, Lyells with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Danny Maupin officiated.
