Died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1992, at 5:20 p.m. at Pointe Coupee General Hospital, New Roads. He was 79, a native of Sunset and a resident of Fordoche. Visiting at Niland's Funeral Home, Livonia, 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday. Religious services at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Father Bob Stine. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by wife, Marie Meche; two daughters and a son-in-law, Edriene Meche, Fordoche, and Peggy and Bud Blanchard, Old River; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Floyd and Carolyn Meche, Jules Jr. and Rose Meche and Glen and JoAnn Meche, all of Fordoche; a sister, Audrey Megee, Port Allen; 20 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers;and a great-grandson, C.J. Cormier. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Patrick and Homer Jones, Michael, Heath, Glenn Jr. and Mark Meche and Frankie Alphonse. Honorary pallbearer is Randy Meche. He was a member of Ironworkers Local 623 and owner of Meche's Bar, Fordoche.
