Old Mr. Rouiller, about whose illness we wrote recently, has died. Mr. Rouiller lived for many years on a farm in East Gibson and for 25 years was the postmaster there. About 8 years ago he bought a farm and moved to our village where he and his family lived in retirement.
He is survived by his wife, by an elderly sister who lived with them, and by 10 grown children, all in good circumstances. The funeral was held Thursday morning at 10 a.m. from the Catholic Church.
Per 1900 census the couple had 11 children, 10 surviving. In the 1870 census they had a son Edward, age 1. He was not in the 1880 census.
Children from 1870-1900 census's: Eugenie, Pauline, Frank, Edward, Peter, Mary, Samuel, Elizabeth, Julia, Celia.
His mother & several siblings immigrated 22 Dec 1855 from Switzerland to New York, on the ship St Nicolas. Louisa (56), Melanie (30), Eugenie (28), Charles (16), Gregorie (39), Louis (40), Marie (48), and Rosalie (10). Per 1900 census, he immigrated a year earlier in 1854.
