A native and life-long resident of Jonesboro, Mr. Caldwell was retired from Cities Service Oil Co. at Jonesboro and Caldwell Trucking Co.
He was a life-long member of First Christian Church of Jonesboro where he served as a deacon and was a member with perfect attendance of the Bykota Sunday School Class.
Hoyte was a member of the Jonesboro Exchange Club and the Catfish Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Myrtle Berry Caldwell; two sisters, Faye Adkinson and Rhea Erwin; and three brothers, Hall Caldwell, Knocker Caldwell and Kenny Caldwell.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean Griffin Caldwell of the home; one son, Carroll Caldwell of Jonesboro; and one grandson, San Caldwell of Fayetteville.
Funeral services were in First Christian Church at Jonesboro. Burial was in McDaniel Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
