Local Residents' Brother Dies in Nashville

Funeral services for John L McKenzie, 77, of Nashville, Tenn., a retired cotton buyer for Werthan Bag Co., who was a brother of Mrs. E L Adams and Mrs. H B Abernethy of Houston, were held at Nashville Thursday, Sept. 17.

Requiem mass was held Thursday morning, Sept. 17, at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Nashville.

He died Tuesday, Sept. 15, at a Nashville infirmary following a long illness. He was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn., and was the son of the late Duncan Lawrence and Elizabeth Smith McKenzie. He was married 53 years ago to the former Miss Mary Agnes Petty, who survives. He was a communicant of the Cathedral.

Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Mrs. Earleen Miller Cookeville, Mrs. Mary Agnes Randolph, Mrs. Margaret Meacham and Mrs. Marie Alocco, all of Nashville; three sons, William McKnezie of Houston, Tex., John L McKenzie and Earl McKenzie, both of Nashville; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Adams and Mrs. H B Abernethy, both of Houston, Miss., and Mrs. L M McNatt of Farmington, Mich.; a brother, Bert McKenzie of Starkville, Miss.; 25 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
