John Christopher (Joe) Abrahamsen passed away on
January 19, 2001 at the Skagit Valley Hospital,
following a brief illness.

He was born July 10, 1910 in Capitol, Carter
county, Montana to Sever and Anna Abraham.
He grew up in Beach, North Dakota and attended
school there.While still a young man, he moved
to Washington State where he worked on both the
Engen and Ellingson farms. Prior to World War II,
he was employed by the Boeing Aircraft Company
wherehe was involved in the production of the B-17
"Flying Fortresses". On June 27th of 1942, he was
married to Borghild Sophie (Billie) Ericksen.

After the war, they moved to Stanwood where he
was employed by Gilbertson Hardware. In 1956, he
and Billie were blessed with the birth of their son.
In the early 1970's, he retired from the hardware
business and set out to relax and enjoy life.
In 1971, Joe, Billie, and their son, along with
two sisters-in-laws, took a trip to Norway. He, as
well as the rest of the family, enjoyed seeing the
beginnings of their heritage.

Joe was instrumental in forming the Freeborn Fire
Department and was a member for a number of
years. He was a member of Sons of Norway Fritjov #17
Stanwood, and a member of Freeborn Lutheran Church.

John is survived by his wife Billie of 58 years; and
their son. He also leaves behind a host of relatives,
numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.

Services was held on Thursday, January 25, 2001 at
Freeborn Lutheran Church at 1:00pm. Graveside
Services was held at Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery.
Coffee hour followed at the church.

Services are under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral
Home, Stanwood. In lieu of flowers, donations can
be made to American Heart Association.
