HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Frederick George "Fred" Buchholz II, 55, of The Cliffside Inn, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Born Feb. 27, 1942, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Frederick George and Marjorie Loud Buchholz.

He attended Cornell University.

He worked at The Cliffside Inn, Anvil Restaurant and Hilltop Hotel in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., in the food service department.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by one sister, Nancy Youse of Columbus, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Petersville, Md. The Rev. Lawrence Gesy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Petersville.

There will be no visitation. A reception in his honor will be Thursday at 6 p.m. at The Cliffside Inn.

Memorial donations may be made to Jefferson County Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 147, Charles Town, W.Va. 25414.

Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va.
