MRS. J. POWERS DIES IN MY CITY HOSPITAL FRIDAY
Funeral Services Held Here With Interment in Cherry Grove
Mrs. John Powers, of Loomis, passed away at the Samaritan Hospital at Bay City, Friday afternoon, following two years of ill health.
Miss Hannah Retta Miller was born in Crawford county, Ohio, September 21, 1873, and passed away at Bay City, Michigan, August 5, 1949, at the age of seventy-five years, ten months and fourteen days.
She grew to young womanhood in Ohio, where she was united in marriage. to John Powers, December 31, 1898. This union was blessed by the birth of three children, Floyd, Hazel and Ralph.
They made their home at Loomis many years ago, and after several years absence, returned there twenty years ago to reside until her death.
She was a kind, loving wife and mother and a devoted member of the Latter Day Saints Church.
Mrs. Powers leaves to mourn her passing, the bereaved husband, John, of Loomis; son Floyd, of Detroit; three stepsons, Howard and Ray Powers, of Detroit, and William, at home; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Helen Kraft, of New Washington, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren, several great grandchildren; a sister, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and many friends.
The daughter. Hazel (Mrs. Joe Reegles), passed away twelve yearn ago, and the son, Ralph, at the age of one year.
Funeral services were held from the Thurston Funeral Chapel at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, with Rev. E. A. Burton officiating, and interment in Cherry Grove cemetery. (The Clare Sentinel, p. 1 - Clare, Michigan - 12 August 1949)
