John Emmons of Marion Is Dead, Born in County
John Emmons died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home in North Tenth street. He was born June 17, 1848 in Linn county near Mount Vernon. He was married to Alice Hill at Butler, Mo. Jan. 1, 1870. They settled on a farm six miles east of Marion and lived there until 1894 when they moved to another farm 2 1/2 miles north of Marion. They moved to Marion in 1907. His wife died in 1912 and a son Delbert in 1911.
He leaves three sons, Bert Emmons, who lives near Marion, Clifford, Washington and Kimball at home, and two daughters, Mrs. Eva Adams of near Marion and Mrs. Lola Reimers of Marion.
One brother, William Emmons, Mount Vernon and one sister, Mrs. T.C. Oxley, Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Emmons was a member of the Presbyterian church and Marion lodge No. 6, A.F. & A.M.
Funeral services will be held in the Presbyterian church at 2:30 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Harry Glenn Finney will read the service and burial will be made in Oak Shade.
