Mrs. Ida Ellen Ault, was the daughter of Samuel J. and Rachael Rice, and was of a family of eleven children.


She was born May 3, 1862, and died at her home on West Oak street, Butler, on Tuesday morning, Feb, 23, 1937, at the age of 74 years, nine months and 20 days.


On June 10, 1882, she was united in marriage to Martin Smith, who died Dec. 3, 1890. In 1894 she was again united in marriage to Lewis Ault, who died in Butler, Nov. 4, 1935.


For the past twenty-one years Mr. and Mrs. Ault had lived in Butler and vicinity, having previously resided for several years in Illinois.


For many years she had been a member of the Church of Christ, and a devoted Christian woman. She was patient and cheerful during her afflictions, a kind and devoted wife and mother, a good and thoughtful neighbor, and a faithful friend to all.


She leaves four children, as follows: Glenn Smith of Butler, Mrs. Florence Sutton of Humbolt, Ill., Robert Ault of Arcola, Ill., and Mencil Ault of Butler. Two grandchildren had preceded her in death. She also leaves fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren, many other relatives and a large circle of friends.


Services were held at the Phelps funeral home on Thursday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. F. A. Shape. Burial was made in the Butler cemetery..
