LINCOLN – Andrew J. "Andy" Kavan, 36, of Lincoln, formerly of Wahoo, died Sept.
9 in Lincoln.
Kavan was born on Aug. 25, 1975 to Greg and Jean Kavan in Lincoln. With the
exception of one year attending St. John Elementary School in Weston, he went to
St. Wenceslaus Elementary School. He graduated from Bishop Neumann High School
in 1993 where he played football, set several lifting records and was in the
drama department. He attended Midland College in Fremont where he studied
criminal justice and graduated in 1997. He played football four years and was
the team captain and was named the power lifter of the year. He worked for Maly
Construction for several years and had recently worked for United Parcel Service
in Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stanley and Wilma Kavan and George
and Geneis Schafer; and uncle, Rick Schafer.
He is survived by his father, Greg (Jeanine) Kavan of Wahoo; his mother, Jean
Kavan of Lincoln; brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg Jr. and Deborah Kavan of
Wahoo, Chris and Kristi Kavan of Mead, Nick Kavan of Wahoo; step brother, Danny
Parsons of Mead; step sister, Cassie Parsons of Wahoo; nephews and nieces, Sam,
Will and Eli Kavan and Katlyn and Emma Kavan; several uncles and aunts.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. at St.
Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo with Rev. Charles Townsend, Rev. Michael
Christensen and Rev. James Meysenburg officiating. Interment will be at St.
Francis Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a scripture
service/rosary at 7 p.m. all at the church, also one hour visitation before the
service Wednesday.
Casket bearers are Andrew Brabec, Kurt Maly, John Martin, Jeremy Slosser, Jim
Specht and Todd Harrison.
Honorary bearers are Sam, Will, Eli, Katlyn and Emma Kavan and Paul Smith.
Memorials may be made in care of the family.
Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo is in charge of the arrangements."
